What is Domino?

domino

Dominoes are small, rectangular blocks that can be lined up in long rows. When one is tipped over, it causes the next domino in line to fall, and so on. They can be used to play a variety of games that involve stacking them up or arranging them in a zigzag pattern. They are also popular toys for children, who like to play with them by tripping them over and watching them fall down in a chain reaction. The term domino also applies to a theory of history, in which an event in one country triggers a series of events that leads to the expected result. For example, a country might send soldiers to Indochina, which in turn leads to the fall of several other countries. The concept of domino is often used in stories of war or natural disasters.

Domino is a game played by two or more players on a table. Each player has one or more dominoes and the object is to place them in a sequence that will allow them to form a complete chain of squares or a line of crosses or a line of rectangles. The number of points scored is determined by the rules of the particular game. For example, some games score a single domino as ten points, while others count the total number of pips on all the tiles left in a loser’s hand at the end of the game.

When playing domino, it is best to set up a large area on which to lay the dominoes. It is important that there is enough room for everyone to move around the table, as well as a hard surface so the dominoes stand up properly. In addition, it is a good idea to have a pencil and paper nearby so that each person can write down the sequence of plays.

A typical domino set has 28 pieces, but many people have more than that. The most common types are doubles and singles, each with different numbers on both ends. There are also several specialty types of dominoes, such as jumbo tiles with larger numbers on each side.

To begin a domino game, the first player places a tile on the table, positioning it so that the matching ends are touching. Then each player in turn adds a new tile to the line of play. The end of a double is usually a spinner, but it may be placed anywhere in the line if the two matching sides are touching.

The company’s former CEO, David Brandon, introduced a number of changes to the way Domino’s does business in the late 1990s. For example, he encouraged managers to listen to their customers. He also implemented a new leadership training program and college recruiting system. When Doyle became CEO, he promoted these ideas and continued to listen to his employees and customers.
